Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Supports Empire State Games with a donation of $10,000

The Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, through its Amateur Sports Development Fund (ASDF), is making a $10,000 donation to support the 2010 Empire State Games.

“The Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame was the first sponsor to offer financial assistance for the games,” said Local Organizing Chairperson Ralph Galanti. “The $10,000 donation from the Hall of Fame opened the doors for other sponsors to step up and support this great event.”

“Our fund is set up to do exactly what was requested of the Empire State Summer Games,” added Hall of Fame president, Brian Cavanaugh. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our organization to provide assistance to the amateur athletes of Western New York.”

The Empire State Games are scheduled to be hosted by Buffalo, July 21-25.

The Amateur Sports Development Fund (ASDF) has been providing assistance to area groups since providing support to the 1993 World University Games. Funds are awarded to amateur athletes, teams and organizations seeking financial assistance to foster the pursuit of a higher level of athletic achievement. A portion of the proceeds from the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame annual induction dinner held each fall is made available to fund the ASDF.
