CLASS OF 2009 UNVEILED WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10
AT GREATER BUFFALO SPORTS HALL OF FAME SITE IN HSBC ARENA

Board president, Brian Cavanaugh introduced the 10 member class of 2009 at a news conference on Wednesday, June 10.

Jim Dombrowski, former New Orleans Saints offensive lineman, University of Virginia All-American and Williamsville native, will be the spokesman for this year’s class.

This event will mark the 19th class to be inducted into the Hall of Fame since its inception in 1991 and brings the total membership to 215.

Dan Bazzani - Coach and Player, Basketball
Jackie Brummer - Gymnastics
Jim Dombrowski - Football
Willie Evans – Football
George Killian -Coach, Athletic Administrator
Joe Merlo -Multi-Sport Athlete/Coach
Cliff Robinson - Basketball
Lou Rosselli -Wrestling

Two other athletes – former Buffalo Sabres goalie Roger Crozier and professional football quarterback Al Dekdebrun – will join the Pride of Western New York – which honors Buffalo-area sports immortals posthumously.

This group will join a rich heritage of native Western New Yorkers, or those who starred in and around the Queen City during their playing days, who are enshrined in the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame.

The Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame honors those who have enhanced our lives with their performances and commitment to Western New York sports, an effort surpassed only by the positive impressions they have left on the athletes of tomorrow.

Hyatt Regency Buffalo Site of the 2009 Induction Dinner

Induction ceremonies for this year’s Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame will move to the Hyatt Regency Buffalo. Since its opening in 1996 the dinner and induction ceremonies have been held at HSBC Arena, home of the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame.

The class of 2009 will be announced in June. A date for the 19th annual dinner has yet to be determined. Ticket costs are expected to remain the same - $85.00 per ticket and $750.00 for a table of 10. Read full press release.
