Athletic Career:

  • Competitive rifle shooter
  • Moved to Buffalo from Ontario as a teenager
  • Joined U.S. National Guard
  • Won Team Military Rifle gold medal at 1908 Olympics in London with the highest individual score in the competition at the age of 40
  • Won silver and two bronze medals in the 1912 Olympics at Stockholm
  • Finished his career on the 1920 U.S. Olympic team in Antwerp
  • Three-time winner of the National Rifle Association Members Trophy (1901, 1903, 1908)
  • One of the most highly decorated Olympians from WNY
