Allie Brandt

Bowling Champion

Lockport native Albert “Allie” Brandt, a highly successful professional bowler and member of the American Bowling Congress (ABC) Hall of Fame, is best remembered for his record score of 886 for a three-game series which remained unbroken for fifty years.

Brandt bowled successive games of 297, 289 and 300 for a total of 886 pins in a 1939 ABC sanctioned event. It set the standard for bowling excellence for years to come. Brandt’s accomplishments would soon bring him many bowling honors. In 1946 & 47, he was named to the First Team All-American Bowling Team.

In 1958, Brandt became a charter member of the Professional Bowler’s Association (PBA), and served as the first treasurer on the Board of Governors until his death in 1982.

Then in 1960, Brandt was inducted into the ABC Hall of Fame. From 1975-77, he served as president of the shrine. In 1976, Brandt became a charter member of the Hall of Fame of both Lockport and Buffalo Bowling Associations. In 1982, he also became a charter member of the New York State Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
