The Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame will present Jon Roth with the Dick Gallagher Legacy Award at the 2024 induction dinner on November 12, 2024.

Roth has been part of the Grand Island Central School District for 50 years, serving as a teacher, coach and athletic director for half a century. Throughout his teaching/coaching career, Jon coached football, basketball and tennis for Grand Island, and his teams won more than 200 basketball games and 150 girls tennis matches.

As an administrator he helped build the Vikings into one of the top all-around athletic departments in Western New York and led the district through the design and construction of one of the best athletic facilities in the region.

The Dick Gallagher Legacy Award was created to honor and inspire the Legacy of one of the most amazing individuals to ever be a part of the Western New York Community. The Dick Gallagher Legacy Committee was formed in 2019. For anyone who knew Dick, you would know that he was humbled by the recognition and was appreciative that others with his same values and commitment to Western New York sports would be honored annually. Dick was a simple man who always believed in what good he could bring to others, especially to the youth of Western New York.
