Hall of Fame’s Amateur Sports Development Fund helps Pop Warner Western New York Bills Football Team fund team’s trip to nationals in Florida
Add the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame to the list of contributors to assist the Pop Warner Western New York Bills in their quest to compete for the Pop Warner Super Bowl. In a story that has been widely chronicled around the football-crazy region, the youth group was several thousand dollars short of financing the team’s trip to nationals in Florida this week. Several benefactors have since stepped up, including the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, via its Amateur Sports Development Fund, to the tune of $1,300.00.
“Playing for a national championship is a tremendous opportunity for these young men and their devoted coaches and we want to be as supportive as possible,” stated GBSHOF president Therese Forton Barnes. “Our Board of Directors became aware of this situation a few days ago and we all felt it was important to lend a helping hand.”
The money will assist in offsetting the costs of travel, lodging and meals for the team, who are competing this week in Orlando for the championship. They are the first undefeated Pop Warner Western New York team to qualify for nationals.
