Julie Gentner Murphy

A three-sport athlete at Williamsville South High School, Julie Gentner Murphy led the Billies in each sport in which she competed.

In basketball, Julie tallied more than 1,000 points as a point guard, and in softball she helped lead the team to two state championships, and was a two-time 1^st Team All-WNY selection.

However, it was in field hockey where she really excelled. In addition to being selected 1^st Team All-WNY in 1997 and 1998, she was also named to the All-State team in each of those two seasons. She also helped lead the Billies to the NYS Field Hockey championship game in 1998.

Julie continued her athletic career at SUNY Cortland, as a member of both the field hockey and softball teams. On the hockey pitch, she was a 3-time All-American forward and the NCAA Division III player of the year. She also earned SUNYAC Player of the Year honors twice. She helped lead the Red Dragons to the National Championship in 2001. Julie set the all-time single season scoring record with 64 points in 2002. She also ranks second in career goals (63) and assists (37).

On the softball field, Julie set a school record with 18 doubles, helping the team to fifth place nationally at the NCAA Division III World Series. She had a career .402 average and ranks first at Cortland with 58 doubles and 139 RBI. She was a 3-time All-American shortstop, a two-time Academic All-American, a 4-time All-SUNYAC selection. She was named Female Athlete of the Year for the Red Dragons in 2003 and was the youngest person ever inducted into the SUNY-Cortland C-Club Hall of Fame (2013).

Julie has returned to the diamond at Williamsville South and currently serves as the head coach of the Billies, capturing two sectional titles (2014, 2018) and a NYS Class A Championship (2014). She is a two-time ECIC Coach of the Year, and was selected as the New York State Coach of the Year in 2014.

In her free time, Julie dominates the local links. She is a 5-time Buffalo District Golf Association Player of the Year, a 9-time Brookfield Country Club Champion, and she has finished in the top ten of the NYS Mid-Am Golf Championship seven times.

Additionally, Julie is also the director and coach of the Williamsville Stampede Field Hockey Club and a travel softball coach.
