The Kenmore West Football Teams from 1967-69

During their three-year span, the Blue Devils dominated Western New York high school football, compiling a record of 23-1. Ken West captured consecutive Niagara Frontier Football titles in 1967 and 1968, but in the 1969 season, not only did the team go undefeated, but they also outscored their opponents by a score of 389-67. A record that still stands in WNY football history.

The defense was under the direction of head coach Jules Yakapovich who had developed a defensive game plan known as the “Radar Defense,” a scheme that was later used by several NFL teams. The Blue Devils were voted the New York State football association champions and received the #1 ranking in the NY Sportswriters Association rankings as well as the “National Champions” based on computer calculation.
